Fitness has been a lifestyle, a field of intense study and a career
for Thomas Gergley. Gergley has helped shape and define the fitness
industry and he is now Chairman of Butterfly Life. His high standards
ensure that the staff and programs at Butterfly Life will be state-of-the-art
and professionally implemented.
With a BS in Exercise Science followed by an MS in Exercise Physiology
from Queens College in New York, Gergley began his career raising
the level of fitness expertise as the program manager at the Executive
Fitness Center in New York City. Certified by the esteemed American
College of Sports Medicine, he maintained the finest skill levels
in staffing and quickly moved up in the ranks of management.
After five years he transitioned to president of the New York
Health and Racquet Clubs and brought their clubs into the elite
circle of premier fitness centers. He was then recruited by a
fledgling operation in California, the then-named 24 Hour Nautilus
chain. As chief operating officer, Gergley guided the company
to greater success and set the stage for impending growth spurts.
Partnering with Mark Golob in 1992, Gergley became president of
Women's workout and weight loss centers in San Ramon, California.
He has maintained a successful concept and company track record
since the first club opened.
He has also maintained contact with the academia of fitness publishing
research in the Journal of Applied Physiology, Medicine Science
and Sports, and Physician and Sports medicine. As a Chairman of
Butterfly Life, Gergley ensures that company standards are at
the top of the industry.
